Corralejo is a real paradox: it is one of the most popular seaside resorts on the island, and at the same time Corralejo is home to the Dunes Natural Park, a vast desert next to a beautiful coastline of turquoise water… Visiting the dunes is a must if you are Fuerteventura.

If you want to add the Corralejo Dunes National Park on your itinerary of things to see in Fuerteventura (and you should), then this guide is for you.

Enjoy your trip!

The Corralejo Natural Park is above all a large expanse of sand dunes, home to a rich fauna and flora (the area is also classified as a Special Bird Protection Area). This mini-Sahara extends for a good ten kilometers along the coast… and the views from the coastal road (with the islands of Lanzarote and Lobos in the background) are really impressive.

What to do and see in Fuerteventura

If you are up for a little walk, you can easily access the dunes on foot from Corralejo (Read: 8 best things to do in Corralejo). It should take you a little less than 1 hour to reach the main part of the Natural Park.

Alternatively you can easily rent a bicycle in Corralejo (even an electric one) to reach the Park.

If you decide to drive, it will be very easy. Simply take the main road FV-1A towards the capital Puerto del Rosario, and park along the dunes. There are several free car parks located along the road. From the car park you can easily reach the white sand beaches.

The main thing to do in the Natural Park is to take your towel, some sunscreen and water, and go sunbathing.
