Believe it or not, but Koreans drink more coffees than they eat Kimchi. Indeed, the number of cafes in Korea exploded over the last few years. Starbucks counts most branches in Korea than anywhere else in the world.

So what’s our favorite outdoor cafes in Seoul?

By far the most stunning outdoor cafe in Seoul. The Piano is located in Pyeongchang-Dong, right on the edge of the Bukhansan National Park. This cafe is an award winning architectural building, surrounded by a beautiful garden and jaw-dropping view of the mountain and Seoul in the background.

There is no public transportation to reach The Piano. Hence, a car or a cab ride from the city would be required. However, once you reach there, you will instantly fall in love with this place.

This cafe also appears in movies and TV shows, such as the Three Colors of Fantasies or The Liar and His Lover.

Sanmotoonge has an unpronounceable name, but it is surely one of the most stunning outdoor cafes in Seoul. We enjoy admiring the autumn sunset from Sanmotoonge.

Like Piano, the best way to get there is by car or taxi ride. However, you can also reach there by bus and then walk for about 15-20min.

This cafe also serves beer, which is a rare thing in cafes in Korea. So if you are up for beer in the evening watching the sunset, it’s a perfect place for it.

The view from Sanmotoonge is absolutely gorgeous. It is a great place to relax on the weekend and definitely one of the best outdoor cafe in Seoul.

Hans Gallery is another beautiful cafe in Seoul with an awesome outdoor seating area.

Hans Gallery in Seongbuk-dong is often used as a wedding venue. It has a beautiful and big garden with plenty of space to seat outside. The setting is gorgeous and the architecture is very modern. It’s a perfect blend.

Hans Gallery also serves delicious and healthy food, and has great coffee. It is also a very relaxing place. They are sometimes close, as it is also used as a wedding venues.

We enjoy this outdoor coffee a lot. We’ve been there so many times.

Bukhansan Atelier is perhaps one of the most romantic outdoor cafe in Seoul, right in the middle of the city.

We came across Bukhansan Atelier near Gwanghwamun by chance, just walking around the area to get a coffee. Bukhansan Atelier is a gorgeous place in a great setting. It does feel like you are in a cute neighborhood in Paris.

You can seat outside on the ground floor and on the balcony on the first floor. Both surrounded by colorful trees. Bukhansan Atelier is a great and peaceful spot in the middle of the city. You can combine it with a visit of the beautiful Gyeongbokgung Palace which is not very far.

Bukhansan Atelier has 2 awesome outdoor cafes in Seoul, 1 near Gwanghwamun and 1 in Eunpyeong Hanok Village. Both are beautifully designed cafes with great areas to seat outside.

Bukhansan Bakery in Eunpyeong seats at the base of the Bukhansan National Park next to the amazing Eunpyeong Hanok Village and the well known Samhwasa Temple. Spending an afternoon there is fantastic and highly recommended.

Eunpyeong is a gorgeous area, as it is surrounded by Mountains. Check out our blog post here. The Hanok Village is a great way to go back in time and enjoy the beautiful and traditional Korean architecture. Finish or start the day with an amazing cup of coffee at Bukhansan Bakery.

Right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace, in Samcheong-Dong, Jinseon Cafe (카페 진선 카페) is ideally located to enjoy a great cup of Coffee while seating outside.

The outdoor area is quite big and well decorated. We enjoyed Jinseon Cafe every time we went there. Take a book or your laptop and enjoy a great afternoon.

Jinseon Cafe is definitely one of the top outdoor cafe in Seoul.

Built in a Hanok, a traditional Korean house, Cafe Onion is a beautiful cafe with great architecture, where modern blends perfectly with traditions.

Cafe Onion has a great outdoor seating area. Their coffee and bakery is delicious. We highly recommend Cafe Onion if you are in Seoul. It has become very trendy over the years.

It is located near Insadong and Ikseong-Dong, 2 very cute neighborhoods in Seoul.

Cafe Onion has multiple locations. Our favorite ones are in Anguk near Insadong and in Seongsu near Common Ground (blue containers).

Cafe Onion Seongsu has a great rooftop to enjoy some fresh air. Their bakery is also super yummy. Cafe Onion has become one of the most popular and most instagramable cafe in Seoul.

Adela Bailey serves great Italian food as well as good coffee. The rooftop has a stunning view over the Bukhansan Mountain. It is one of our favorite spot to enjoy a great dinner on the rooftop with a beautiful sunset.

You can also go there if you only want a coffee. Adela Bailey is certainly on our list of top outdoor cafes in Seoul

Ground 62 in Pyeongchang-dong is a beautiful cafe with a gorgeous garden overlooking the Bukhansan Mountain. In summer it is an ideal place to chill, and lay down in the hammock between the trees.

Occasionally Ground 62 also organized BBQ, which makes it one of the best place to chill in summer while staying in the city. It does have a sort of holiday feel.

OPENING HOURS: Ground 62 is only open from late Spring to Early Autumn as the main draw of the cafe is to sit outside. Check out their instagram page for more details.

In a small and quiet alley right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace, you can enjoy a great cup of coffee at 33 Market.

33 Market is also a bar which serves different kind of beers and wines. Seating there in the evening with cute lighting all around the terrace is very romantic.

Chosochaekbang book cafe recently opened, late 2020. This cafe is nestled in the mountain with a stunning view of Seoul one 1 side and the Bukhansan National Park on the other side.

Their cafes is absolutely delicious and they also have a bakery. Chosochaekbang quickly became one of our favorite spot to have a cafe outside and chill pretty much all day.

There is no public transportation to get to Chosochaekbang book cafe. Hence we recommend getting a cab.

OPENING HOURS: 8:00am until 10:00pm

Almost home cafe is arguably THE MOST instagrammable cafe in Seoul. Set in a traditional Hanok House surrounded by Bamboos, you just feel that you escaped the city instantly.

This cafe is absolutely stunning and if you are ever in Samcheong-Dong, which is also one of our favorite area in Seoul, you must visit Almost home cafe!

They have an outdoor area, where you can seat around the Hanok.

OPENING HOURS: 11:00am until 07:00pm

The Royal Food and Drink is mostly known for its legendary brunch. However, you can also enjoy an amazing cup of coffee on their rooftop if the weather is nice. The view to the city is unbeatable!

OPENING HOURS: 10am – 9pm

Vers Garden is a flower shop which also serves coffee. They have a very cute outdoor area, which makes it the perfect place to relax on a sunny day.

The smell of the fresh flowers when entering the shop, fills you with positive energy. Vers Garden is a great place to enjoy a great cup of coffee in a peaceful and green environment.

There are many beautifully outdoor cafes in Seoul. Having a coffee at any time of the day with friends, family and colleagues is part of the daily life for Koreans.
