WHAT ARE THE BEST OUTDOOR CAFES IN SEOUL?

Seoul has fantastic and beautiful cafes all around the city. In Spring and Autumn, 2 beautiful seasons in South Korea, we love getting our cup of coffee outside to enjoy the perfect weather.

Believe it or not, Koreans drink more coffee than they eat Kimchi. Indeed, the number of cafes in Korea exploded over the last few years. Starbucks has more branches in Korea than anywhere else in the world.

Best outdoor cafes in Seoul

1. The Piano in Pyeongchang-dong

By far the most stunning outdoor cafe in Seoul. The Piano is located in Pyeongchang-Dong, right on the edge of the Bukhansan National Park. This cafe is an award-winning architectural building, surrounded by a beautiful garden and a jaw-dropping view of the mountain and Seoul in the background.

There is no public transportation to reach The Piano. Hence, a car or a cab ride from the city would be required. However, once you reach there, you will instantly fall in love with this place.

This cafe also appears in movies and TV shows, such as The Three Colors of Fantasies or The Liar and His Lover.

2. Sanmotoonge Café in Buam Dong

Sanmotoonge has an unpronounceable name, but it is surely one of the most stunning outdoor cafes in Seoul. We enjoy admiring the autumn sunset from Sanmotoonge.

Like Piano, the best way to get there is by car or taxi ride. However, you can also reach there by bus and then walk for about 15-20min.

This cafe also serves beer, which is a rare thing in cafes in Korea. So if you are up for beer in the evening watching the sunset, it’s a perfect place for it.

The view from Sanmotoonge is absolutely gorgeous. It is a great place to relax on the weekend and definitely one of the best outdoor cafe in Seoul.

3. Hans Gallery in Seongbuk-dong

Hans Gallery is another beautiful cafe in Seoul with an awesome outdoor seating area.

Hans Gallery in Seongbuk-dong is often used as a wedding venue. It has a beautiful big garden with plenty of space to sit outside. The setting is gorgeous and the architecture is very modern. It’s a perfect blend.

Hans Gallery also serves delicious and healthy food and has great coffee. It is also a very relaxing place. They are sometimes close, as it is also used as a wedding venue.

We enjoy this outdoor coffee a lot. We’ve been there so many times.

4. Jinseon Cafe in Samcheong-dong

Right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace, in Samcheong-Dong, Jinseon Cafe (카페 진선 카페) is ideally located to enjoy a great cup of Coffee while sitting outside.

The outdoor area is quite big and well-decorated. We enjoyed Jinseon Cafe every time we went there. Take a book or your laptop and enjoy a great afternoon.

Jinseon Cafe is definitely one of the top outdoor cafes in Seoul.

5. Cafe Onion in Anguk near Insadong

Built in a Hanok, a traditional Korean house, Cafe Onion is a beautiful cafe with great architecture, where modern blends perfectly with traditions.

Cafe Onion has a great outdoor seating area. Their coffee and bakery is delicious. We highly recommend Cafe Onion if you are in Seoul. It has become very trendy over the years.

It is located near Insadong and Ikseong-Dong, 2 very cute neighborhoods in Seoul.

6. Cafe Onion in Seongsu

Cafe Onion has multiple locations. Our favorite ones are in Anguk near Insadong and in Seongsu near Common Ground (blue containers).

Cafe Onion Seongsu has a great rooftop to enjoy some fresh air. Their bakery is also super yummy. Cafe Onion has become one of the most popular and most Instagramable cafes in Seoul.

7. Adela Bailey in Buam Dong

Adela Bailey serves great Italian food as well as good coffee. The rooftop has a stunning view over the Bukhansan Mountain. It is one of our favorite spots to enjoy a great dinner on the rooftop with a beautiful sunset.

You can also go there if you only want a coffee. Adela Bailey is certainly on our list of top outdoor cafes in Seoul

8. Ground 62 in Pyeongchang-dong

Ground 62 in Pyeongchang-dong is a beautiful cafe with a gorgeous garden overlooking Bukhansan Mountain. In summer it is an ideal place to chill and lay down in the hammock between the trees.

Occasionally Ground 62 also organizes BBQ, which makes it one of the best place to chill in summer while staying in the city. It does have a sort of holiday feel.

9. 33 Market next to Gyeongbokgung Palace

In a small and quiet alley right next to Gyeongbokgung Palace, you can enjoy a great cup of coffee at 33 Market.

33 Market is also a bar that serves different kind of beers and wines. Seating there in the evening with cute lighting all around the terrace is very romantic.

10. Chosochaekbang in Buam Dong

Chosochaekbang Book Cafe recently opened, in late 2020. This cafe is nestled in the mountains with a stunning view of Seoul on one 1 side and the Bukhansan National Park on the other side.

Their cafes are delicious and they also have a bakery. Chosochaekbang quickly became one of our favorite spots to have a cafe outside and chill pretty much all day.

There is no public transportation to get to Chosochaekbang Book Cafe. Hence we recommend getting a cab.

11. The Royal Food and Drink in Itaewon

The Royal Food and Drink is mostly known for its legendary brunch. However, you can also enjoy an amazing cup of coffee on their rooftop if the weather is nice. The view to the city is unbeatable!

12. The Vers Garden in Hongdae

Vers Garden is a flower shop that also serves coffee. They have a very cute outdoor area, which makes it the perfect place to relax on a sunny day.

The smell of the fresh flowers when entering the shop, fills you with positive energy. Vers Garden is a great place to enjoy a great cup of coffee in a peaceful and green environment.
